Yellow™ gives the SES a warm vote of thanks

The local SES crew in Mackay were given a warm vote of thanks from the team at YellowTM this week.

The Mackay and Calen SES crews worked over May and June this year to distribute almost 13,500 YellowTM telephone directories to businesses and residents in the Mackay region.

For their efforts, the YellowTM team this week presented the Mackay SES with a brand new Toshiba laptop and data projector. According to spokesman, Nev Ross of the Mackay SES, the new equipment will be used to assist in the training of SES volunteers during regular training sessions as well as during specialised courses held throughout the year. The equipment will also be used to conduct information and training sessions for school students and other community groups, as well as public awareness displays.

"The Mackay SES have been working with YellowTM for eight years. Distributing YellowTM directories provides us with much needed income for our social club to support our members and also to purchase selected equipment for our benefit, as required to complement local or state issued equipment. This in turn allows us to provide essential services to Mackay residents.

"We are extremely thankful to the local YellowTM team for this donation. It will make our job in community education so much easier and more professional."

YellowTM has strong ties to the Mackay community. Following the February floods, the team donated $50,000 to the Salvation Army to assist local families and businesses get back on their feet. Sensis also supported North Mackay State Primary School, the worst hit school in the area, by supplying brand new computers for the flood-damaged IT room.

The YellowTM team will be in Mackay from 2 February 2009 and will be located at 33 River Street.
